Questions, answered
Which cheeses work best?
Firm and hard cheeses like parmesan, pecorino and aged cheddar grate best. Soft cheeses like brie or fresh mozzarella squash and clog the drum.
Is it plastic or metal?
The body, hopper, arm and crank are white plastic, and the grating drum is metal. That keeps it light, about 5.1 oz (145 g).
How big a piece of cheese fits?
The hopper opening is about 2.5 in (6.4 cm) wide. Cut big blocks into wedges that drop in easily.
Is it hard to turn?
No. Squeeze the arm gently to press the cheese onto the drum and turn the crank at an easy pace. Harder cheese needs a bit more squeeze.
How do I clean it?
Rinse the drum and hopper under warm soapy water right after use, brush out the drum holes and let it dry fully before you put it away.
