Questions, answered
Will it damage my knives?
Use light pressure and pull in one direction only, heel to tip, about 5 times per stage. Sawing back and forth is what wears an edge unevenly, so don't.
Does it work on serrated knives?
No. It's for straight-edged knives only, so keep bread knives and other serrated blades out of it.
Which stage do I use?
For a very dull knife, go through all three stages, coarse to fine. For a quick weekly touch-up, a few pulls through the fine stage is usually enough.
Can I sharpen ceramic knives?
The maker lists steel and ceramic knives. Use very light pressure on ceramic blades, as they chip more easily than steel.
How do I clean it?
Lift out the sharpening head, rinse the metal dust away under the tap, dry it fully and refit it. Wipe the handle with a damp cloth.
